Well I had the opportunity to try a stewpeas pattie.
Amazing!
If I hadn't taken the top off the pattie and counted the 8 red beans I would have sworn it was a beef pattie put into the wrong wrapper.
I won't be running to the shop for them, but I for one will eat another if the opportunity arises.
Pastry - the pastry was good, light, flaky, melt in the mouth - 4
Shape - Traditional, with slight crackle edge. - 4.5
Filling - was supposed to be red beans. I counted 8 in total. Great colour, but mostly filler rather than beans filling it.
Flavour - average Caribbean flavouring. It had flavour. A hint of pepper - 4.5
Score 13/15 😁
We also tried their chicken pattie, surprisingly similar results, but this time small pieces of what could have been chicken and the rest was filler. I confidently say this company has found a formula. Perfectly Caribbean tasting filler with a percentage of what they is in it i.e. the 8 kidney beans in stewpeas patty. Basically the filling in both chicken & stewpeas, looks and taste similar and without the lable we wouldn't of guessed which flavour pattie we were suppose to be eating.
ReplyDeleteI'm reluctant to try the beef pattie, I have a strong feeling it's going to be similar - good, but not different...
