They've been in Covent Garden for 7 years. Now they're just outside Liverpool Street Station.
This blog has been created to look at the Caribbean Pattie. We visit shops and bakeries that offer this Caribbean snack and grade the quality of the pattie as objectively as possible by scoring them on: 1. Pastry; quality, i.e. texture - softness, flakiness and flavour. 2. Shape; Traditional pattie shape - half circle with crackled edges. 3. Meat; spicy, juicy - Caribbean flavour. Top score 5 for each section and comments on the filling re flavour and look. Top score 15.

STEWPEAS PATTIE
Way back in 2017 I mentioned (or maybe ranted) about StewPeas patties. The jest of my article was why, why ruin this traditional Jamaican snack?!
Well I had the opportunity to try a stewpeas pattie.
Amazing!
If I hadn't taken the top off the pattie and counted the 8 red beans I would have sworn it was a beef pattie put into the wrong wrapper.
I won't be running to the shop for them, but I for one will eat another if the opportunity arises.
Pastry - the pastry was good, light, flaky, melt in the mouth - 4
Shape - Traditional, with slight crackle edge. - 4.5
Filling - was supposed to be red beans. I counted 8 in total. Great colour, but mostly filler rather than beans filling it.
Flavour - average Caribbean flavouring. It had flavour. A hint of pepper - 4.5
Score 13/15 😁
