At first glace you'd think this is a pattie. The filling is pumpkin. A sweet mixture of pumpkin with raisins wrapped in pastry. In a shape that I associate with Caribbean pattie, but it is a sweet pie.
Because it has not claimed to be a pattie I won't be rating it in The World of Patties.
I just had to include the pumpkin pie. It is an extension of my rant in 'Traditional Cuisine - Just Saying (April 2017)' about pattie fillings. So far fillings have been ackee, stew peas, callaloo, lamb, chicken, cheese, beef with cheese and shrimp and I would not be surprised if there are other fillings that I have not come across yet. As stated in past blogs I believe beef and mixed vegetables are the only two true pattie fillings.
My question is when is a 'pattie' not a pattie?
